Harbottles partner wins EMI top job

Harbottle & Lewis’s head of music Antony Bebawi has scooped a new role as the head of legal affairs at EMI Music Publishing.

The firm will restructure after his departure, bringing together James Sully, who also heads up its music group, with specialist partner in interactive, media and games, Sebastian Belcher.

Belcher and Sully will be assisted by a new recruit from SonyBMG, Benjamin Brassington, who has in depth expertise in licensing digital content throughout Europe.

The changes see the promotion of Belcher, to Partner. Belcher will be taking an overall responsibility for Games and Interactive Media and together with James Sully will have the opportunity to further build on the excellent client base and reputation that has been created by Antony in his time at the firm.

Harbottle & Lewis managing partner, Lawrence Abramson, commented, “The firm is very sorry to lose Antony and wishes him well in his new role at EMI. He has left us a great legacy of music and new media clients many of whom have increasing requirements for advisors that understand the overlap between today’s different content and digital platforms. We are excited to be enhancing the already exceptionally broad offering of specialist industry skills within the firm with the addition of this new team resource. “
