Gordons hits Addleshaw Goddard for Leeds partner hire

Gordons has hired former Addleshaw Goddard partner Simon Pilling as a corporate partner in its Leeds office.

Pilling was a leading partner at Addleshaw Goddard for 12 years. He spent seven years in the corporate and private equity practice in London, before returning to the firm’s Leeds office in 2009.

Pilling will take up his position as corporate partner at Gordons on the 1 July after nearly two years as chief executive officer of private investment fund John Laithwaite Partners.

Gordons senior partner John Holden said: “Simon is a significant addition to Gordons and we’re really looking forward to him joining the team. He is a talented and ambitious lawyer, with great experience and contacts in the region and further afield.”

Holden also commented on Pilling’s extensive local and national contacts in the private equity markets. Gordons recently announced the launch of a pensions team with the hire of Eversheds’ Leeds pensions head Terry Saeedi, along with two associates and a professional support lawyer (4 June 2013).

Gordons is pursuing a plan for strategic growth and grew turnover from £23.3m in 2010-11 to £25.3m in 2011-12, marking 11 successive years of growth (1 May 2012).
