Eversheds beefs up employment team with Bircham hire

Eversheds has hired a strike injunction specialist from Bircham Dyson Bell to head its industrial relations practice.

Marc Meryon, a partner at Bircham Dyson Bell, will join Eversheds as head of industrial relations within the firm’s human resources practice group in the autumn, having handed in his resignation at Bircham Dyson Bell in May.

Meryon will also bring associate Holly Short with him when he joins Eversheds.

Before joining Bircham Dyson Bell, Meryon was head of employment at Kennedys.

Meryon, a specialist in employment and industrial relations, has advised Network Rail on strike actions and is close to a number of train operating companies.

Until now Eversheds practice has been more focused on employment relations and redundancy work.

“Putting the two practices together sends a clear message,” said Martin Warren, head of Eversheds’ human resources practice. “We already have a very strong labour relations team and adding Marc, who is an outstanding lawyer, will help attract additional ‘bet the company’ employment and labour work.”
