DWF adds 10 to partnership

DWF has made up ten new partners in its latest round of promotions, with the insurance group taking the bulk of promotions.

In total, six of the ten promoted will join the insurance partnership. They include non-practising barrister and catastrophic injury specialist Amanda Emberton who joined DWF from Plexus Law in 2011 (26 September 2011), advanced recovery manager Chris Downey, professional negligence specialist Michael Pease, Graham Smith, Lee Foulser and Mark Douglas.

The firm also made up two regulatory partners, Dominic Watkins and Sian Cross, one employment lawyer Jamie Campbell, and corporate specialist Lisa Stavropoulos.

Potential new partners are enrolled on a development programme for between one and three years before being made up.

Describing the skills required of those candidates, DWF talent development manager Pete Flaherty said: “As strategic leaders they need to be able to set direction, lead other leaders in a fast-paced competitive environment, create a high performance team dynamic and engage people to excel in their role.”

Turnover at DWF increased by 57.5 per cent to £93.6m at the half-year point (18 November 2013), most of which was driven by an acquisitive 2012/13 year.

The firm’s latest LLP accounts revealed that the firm had spent almost £17m on its expansion last year, merging with Biggart Baillie (7 June 2013), Buller Jeffries (2 April 2012), Claimbase and Fishburns (18 January 2013), as well as acquiring Cobbetts in a pre-pack administration (6 February 2013).
