DLA Düsseldorf takes White & Case team

DLA Piper’s Cologne office has poached a corporate team of two partners and three associates from White & Case in Düsseldorf.

Former White & Case partner Andreas Meyer-Landrut and local partner Kerstin Schnabel will start as equity partners at DLA, joined by three associates.

Meyer-Landrut told German magazine Juve: “We are looking forward to the new challenges in a firm with such strong growth as DLA Piper and want the entire corporate practice group to make an impact in the market.”

DLA is one of the fastest growing firms in Germany, after opening up in Cologne in 2004 with one managing partner and two associates. Today the Cologne office has 11 partners and 35 other fee-earners.

A total of 110 lawyers work at DLA in Germany after opening offices in Hamburg and Frankfurt, as well as in Munich late last year.

Meyer-Landrut’s departure to DLA, however, will leave White & Case’s corporate capacity in Düsseldorf severely weakened, although its Frankfurt and Hamburg offices still boast strength there.

White & Case in Frankfurt recently hired Freshfield Bruckhaus Deringer principal associate Alexander Kiefner, who will start as a local partner.
