Clydes builds Middle East finance offering

Clyde & Co has continued its push into the Middle East with the hire of Taylor Wessing finance partner Ashley Painter.

Painter becomes the thirteenth partner in Clydes’ Dubai office and the third new partner for the office this year, meaning the firm’s partnership has almost tripled in size over the past three years.

In March equity capital markets partner Catherine Moss was relocated to the region and in May the firm made up corporate lawyer Philip O’Riordan.

Middle East head Jonathan Silver said Painter’s hire would help Clydes to widen its client offering in the Middle East and the wider Asian region.

The news of Painter’s hire comes a week after The Lawyer revealed (13 November) that Clydes is one of a growing number of UK firms planning to launch in Qatar in the near future.

Painter joined Taylor Wessing in 2004 from CMS Cameron McKenna.
