Wilson Sonsini loses Beijing head Li to Sidley

The head of US technology firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati’s Beijing office has quit the firm to join Sidley Austin.

Capital markets specialist Kefei Li is no longer listed on Wilson Sonsini’s website, with Sidley today confirming that he had joined the firm.

During his years as an associate Li spent time at US firms Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Dewey & LeBeouf and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, before joining Wilson Sonsini as a partner in April 2011.

A native Mandarin speaker, he has led the firm’s Beijing office since it launched in 2012 (20 December 2012).

A spokesperson for Wilson Sonsini said that the firm wishes Li “all the best”, but did not comment on who would replace him as Beijing office head.

According to the firm’s website China head Weiheng Chen, who divides his times between Hong Kong and Shanghai, manages those offices as well as Beijing.

Corporate lawyer Chen has been a partner at Wilson Sonsini since 2010, when he joined from fellow US firm Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy.
