Private equity sponsors are fighting more than ever for quality lawyers – and Kirkland & Ellis’s newly-minted partner Kanesh Balasubramaniam has a growing reputation after chalking up some of the best deals in 2022.
Balasubramaniam is always on the front of innovation in large syndicated deals and has acted for a wide range of sponsors including working on a co-investment in Atalanta Football Club, advising BC Partners on its bumper financing of Havea in France, representing Oakley Capital on its investments in Phenna Group and CTS Group valued at more than £1bn, as well as advising Bain on a €955.3m public takeover of Caverion Corporation and a role for Stephen Pagliuca on the sale of Chelsea FC.
Balasubramaniam is also driving efforts to expand Kirkland’s network in Italy and helps to connect with partners in the country for its debt practice. When he is not working on deals, Balasubramaniam is a trained opera singer and tenor. He also sits on the board of Pratham, one of India’s largest charities for education.
