US firm Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue has recruited project finance expert Kaamil Ansar as a partner for its London office.
He leaves the London office of another US firm, Skadden Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he was head of the Indian sub-continent practice.
Steve Fiamma, partner in charge of Jones Day's London office, said: “Taking him on was an easy decision. He will add to our project finance practice, especially in the energy area.”
“Also, one of our partners, Jai Pathak, has recently opened an affiliated practice in New Delhi, and we are hoping that Kaamil will continue his work in the sub-continent and expand into the Middle-East.”
Ansar said that, having finished a three-year project in the sub-continent, he “took stock and considered leaving law altogether”. However, a “compelling offer” from Jones Day convinced him otherwise.
Jones Day has maintained a presence in London for more than 20 years. Ansar is the fifth partner in London, and there are plans to recruit “one or two more”, said Fiamma.
