Media firm Michael Simkins has hired an adviser to Elton John and U2 from Eversheds to run its disputes team.
Eversheds media head Patrick Gardiner, who began his career at Frere Cholmeley Bischoff before it was taken over by Eversheds, will join a team that includes three disputes partners.
Gardiner’s specialisms include copyright, trademarks, brand protection,
confidential information and related rights, and he has acted for Elton John, PRS for Music, LiveNation, U2 and Paramount Pictures.
Senior partner of Michael Simkins Paddy Grafton Green said: “Paddy’s a fabulous addition to our team. He’s a quality lawyer with great experience in the media industry. His skills in dispute resolution and the breadth of his contacts in the media business will complement perfectly our leading non-contentious media practice.
“Paddy’s also demonstrated excellent management skills that’ll help us tremendously in developing our litigation practice. We very much look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead,” he added.
At the same time The Lawyer understands that IP and media partner Phil Sherrell is leaving Eversheds for Bird & Bird.
An Eversheds spokesperson commented:”We can confirm that Paddy Gardiner and Phil Sherrell are leaving the firm. We wish them both the best for the future.”
