Italian firm Bonelli Erede Pappalardo is set to appoint senior and founding partner Andrea Carta Mantiglia as head of its London office.
Milan-based Carta Mantiglia focuses his practice on M&A and joint venture transactions and sits on the firm’s management board. His appointment will be effective from April 2012 and will see him split his time between Bonelli’s London and Milan offices.
The firm, which is Slaughter and May’s Italian best friend, established an office in London in 2002 that is home to approximately 15 fee-earners.
The appointment is a continuation of the firm’s strategy to consolidate its position as an international player and follows a meeting in December where the firm’s partners unanimously approved a new three-pillar medium-term strategy (15 December 2011).
Commenting on his move Mantiglia said: “London’s an exciting and vibrant city that holds a special place in my heart so I’m thrilled to take on this mandate from the board. As part of our commitment to the firm’s position as an international player, it is important that there’s a senior corporate presence in London to drive the business forward there.
“Our London office is full of great lawyers who do quality work so I’m looking forward to developing this offering and consolidating our presence in the London business community.”
Bonelli’s managing partner Alberto Saravalle added that London would play an increasingly important part in the firm’s international strategy.
“As the firm progresses through the next stage of its evolution, we hope to forge stronger links with UK and international clients, including non-EU multinationals that consider London a first port of call for their European operations,” he said.
