Berrymans Lace Mawer (BLM) has elected partner Mike Brown as its new senior partner succeeding Terry Renouf, who will stand down after six years in the job.
Brown currently heads the firm’s healthcare practice. He will take over as senior partner on 2 April and his two roles will be combined. Renouf, meanwhile, will return to full time practice.
Last year the firm converted to a legal disciplinary partnership, promoting non-lawyer Alistair Kinley into its equity partnership (20 June 2011).
Under Renouf’s reign the firm has grown turnover by 75 per cent from £45m at the 2005-06 year-end to £78.8m at the 2010-11 year-end. Partnership headcount has also jumped by almost a third, from 101 to 146.
The firm has expanded geographically, having opened offices in Cardiff and Bristol in 2010 (30 March 2010).
Brown said: “One of my priorities is to ensure that BLM continues to follow a clear strategic path leading to new opportunities in a changing legal market place. I welcome the challenges that lie ahead.”
