Dechert expands French corporate team with Orrick hires

Dechert has recruited a duo of lawyers from Orrick Rambaud Martel, including partner Matthieu Grollemund, to boost its corporate team in Paris.

Grollemund is joining Dechert along with associate Hélène Parent.

The duo specialise particularly in private equity work. Grollemund has advised private equity houses in LBOs and other corporate transactions, with clients including Wendel, 3i France, Fondations Capital, Bessemer, Accel and Index.

He also acts on insolvency matters, representing French and international investment funds and banks on restructurings and distressed M&A deals.

Dechert’s global corporate head Henry Nassau said Grollemund’s experience was complementary to that of the worldwide corporate team.

Orrick’s Paris office has seen a number of departures over the past year. Most recently real estate partner Catherine Saint-Geniest moved to French firm Jeantet Associés (22 April 2013). Taylor Wessing (4 September 2012) and McDermott Will & Emery (6 June 2012) have also hired from the office.

Orrick has made its own lateral hires, most recently picking up arbitration partner Charles Kaplan from Herbert Smith Freehills’ Paris office (1 May 2013).
