Withers has announced it has made up eight associates to its partnership across five of its 10 global offices.
The firm’s London office has seen the most promotions, with three new partners in its family law, contentious trusts and succession, and funds, investment, trust and tax teams. The firm’s newest office in Singapore, opened last year (17 February 2012), saw two associates made up. Hong Kong, New York and New Haven took one apiece.
The appointments bring the firm’s total number of partners to 112, almost back to its 2010/11 figure of 113 after a drop down to 107 in 2011/12. Last year the firm only made up five new partners – two of which were in London’s family and international wealth planning teams, while the rest were spread across Zurich, Geneva and Hong Kong (18 July 2012).
In a year punctuated by failed merger discussions with Speechly Bircham , Withers has witnessed a number of partner departures, including head of public law Jennifer McDermott, head of art and cultural assets Pierre Valentin and private client partner Astrid Owen (23 May 2013).
