Ken MacDonald will join Brodies as a partner in the Aberdeen office, where the firm is building a team of lawyers to offer dispute resolution services to offshore clients, as well as other industries in the north and north-east of Scotland.

MacDonald specialises in cases involving oil and gas companies, property, insolvency and general contract. He had been at Paull & Williamsons since 1996, making partner at the firm in 2004. On 1 December Paull & Williamsons merged with Burness (9 October 2012), creating a £37.6m firm and further shaking up the Scottish leader board following McGrigors’ merger with Pinsent Masons in May.

In a statement, Brodies managing partner Bill Drummond said: “We’ve long considered Ken to be an outstanding commercial dispute resolution lawyer who has successfully resolved many significant cases for clients and has many professional achievements to his name.

“Ken’s decision to join Brodies, bringing the total number of our partners in Aberdeen to 11, is a further sign of our enduring commitment to the development of a top-tier team across the range of legal skills relevant to the market in the north-east following our opening in Carden Place 20 months ago.”
