Mid-sized Irish firm LK Shields has made its first managing partner change since it launched in 1988.
Laurence Shields relinquished his position as managing partner of the 15-partner, 25-solicitor firm in favour of litigation partner Hugh Garvey on 1 May. Shields will continue as chairman in what Garvey called “a very active role”.
The firm is looking to accelerate its growth and hopes the installation of a new managing partner will act as a catalyst in this respect. “Laurence has been managing partner from day one,” said banking partner Joe Gavin, “and the change of management is an obvious opportunity to look at ourselves.”
LK Shields has hired 15 lawyers in the past year and Garvey is anticipating a similar level of growth over the next two years.
The firm is known for commercial litigation, commercial property, financial services and corporate.
