CMS Cameron McKenna's initial public offerings (IPO) team in Hong Kong has advised on three flotations in its first month in operation.
The combined deals account for 75 per cent of new issues listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
The first deal was the flotation of Cedar Base Electronics, where Camerons acted for sponsors CSC Asia.
The firm then advised Bright International Group and Quality Food on their IPOs.
The flotations follow a recruitment campaign by Camerons' Hong Kong office, which poached Christopher Clarke, Denton Hall's head of Asian operations, in June. Clarke became senior partner of Camerons' Asia practices.
In the same month the firm also hired corporate and commercial partner Janine Canham from Denton Hall.
The number of fee earners in the Hong Kong corporate and corporate finance group has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
Consultant Gordon Ng, who led the IPO teams, says: “We were under a lot of pressure to get these deals done. Although each of them ran concurrently, we always had the resources to cope, primarily as a result of our expansion.”
Clarke says: “I'm delighted that our focus in this area is having such an impact on the marketplace.
“We have also been lucky to recruit experienced practitioners with a track record on this type of issue.”
Julian Ogley, managing partner of Camerons' Hong Kong office, says: “This shows there has always been room for advisers in this field.”
