Eversheds has recruited Hammonds’ head of real estate litigation in the Midlands Paul Moorcroft as part of its bid to double its real estate litigation practice within the next three years.
Moorcroft took over as head of real estate litigation at Hammonds in May last year, following the departure of Gordon Scott.
Eversheds’ head of litigation in the Midlands Ian Gray said the firm wanted to bulk up the contentious side of the real estate practice to keep pace with the transactional side of the business. “The Midlands real estate practice has really moved on in the non-contentious side – it’s gone from strength to strength,” he said. “Clients need an all-round service.”
Gray added that the firm was also looking to make up a number of litigation partners internally.
The move sees Moorcroft return to the firm at which he originally qualified. He is understood to be still negotiating his exit from Hammonds. Ann Benzimra from Wragge & Co will take over Moorcroft’s role.
