Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has snared Weil Gotshal & Manges’ head of restructuring to head up its European restructuring practice.

Chris Mallon, currently head of the business finance and restructuring group at Weil, announced his departure from the firm today. His experience includes advising on a number of key restructurings including Enron, Global Crossing, Parmalat and Worldcom.

A source at Weil said the firm is confident it still has a premier global insolvency brand. The firm is left with a two partner and 10 associate restructuring team.

The firm is currently in talks with several senior partners to head the London business finance and restructuring group.

At Weil Mallon worked closely with the London finance, corporate and tax teams as well as the New York business and finance department.
