Insurance company Genworth Financial has appointed a new general counsel for Europe after looking internally for someone to fill the post.
James Rember moves up from his previous role as legal and compliance director for the payment protection unit.
Bob Brannock, president of Genworth’s European operations, said: “With his international experience and commercial mindset, James is the right person to lead legal teams to support our growth plans.”
Genworth is still hunting for a European compliance head and three more lawyers to fill posts in the UK and Ireland, Germany and Eastern Europe.
Rember’s career includes stints at Allen & Overy and Australian firm Clayton Utz. He joined Genworth in 2001 from General Electric, where he was senior legal counsel.
