London Electricity is suing BG, trading as Transco of Reading, for damages of more than £84,000 after a London Electricity cable in Old Ford Road, London E3, was struck by a digger used by BG on 9 December 1997. London Electricity claims BG was negligent.

Eurostar, has launched a High Court claim against Tarmac (BA) for damages over alleged defects in the glass roof and walls of Waterloo International station in London. Some of the glass panels are said to have failed because of nickel sulphide stone expansion growth. Materials used to install the panels are also said to have been defective. Eurostar is suing contractor Tarmac (BA) and its guarantor Tarmac Holdings; Briggs Amasco Curtainwall; architect Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners (ITW); and construction manager Bovis Construction. Eurostar is also seeking the cost of investigation, protection and remedial work on the roof and internal and external glass walls.

A man who was injured after falling on a loose step is suing Reigate and Banstead Borough Council for damages. Donald Ponsford injured a disc in his back and damaged nerves after falling on a loose step outside his home in Banstead. Now he is suing the council for damages for his injuries, which he claims were caused by negligence and breach of duty. The accident happened on 15 October 1996 as he was walking from his car to his house. He claims that he fell as he walked on a step between the road and grass verge which was not secured to its concrete footing.

HBG Higgs and Hill Design and Build of London NW9, are suing Watford Leisure Corporation of London SW10 for money allegedly due under a 1994 contract. The claim alleges that by a final certificate dated 5 November 1998, Watford Leisure's agent, chartered quantity surveyors Roger Wenn Partnership, certified the sum of £179,500 plus VAT which Watford has not paid despite requests. HBG also seeks interest of £13,498.40 and continuing interest.

Sales executive Lisa Shelvey who was badly hurt when she was knocked over on a zebra crossing, is seeking High Court damages. She is suing motorist Julien Clark over her injuries, which included injuries to her back, right shoulder, right knee and hip.

Lloyds Bank and its subsidiaries Black Horse Life Assurance Co and Black Horse Financial Services Group are facing a High Court claim for damages. Robert and Ruth Maddocks, of Carmarthen, are claiming compensation for alleged breach of duty, breach of contract and breach of duty of care. The Maddocks are bringing their claim under the Financial Services Act 1986.
