Lawrence Graham has made a return to waste law, hiring the head of ASB Law’s environmental practice.

Colleen Theron joins as a partner in the real estate team, which is headed by Stephen Stephens.

Stephens said: “Like any decent property practice we need a waste law capacity. This is definitely not simply hiring another employee – Colleen has brought clients with her.”

Lawrence Graham lost its dedicated waste law practice in July 2005 after Pinsent Masons headhunted partner Paul Rice.

“Paul Rice resigned over a year ago and I’ve been trying to find a good environmental lawyer since then,” said Stephens.

Theron specialises in advice on waste management matters and PFI projects. She spent two years at ASB Law after joining as a partner in 2004 from Norton Rose.

This hire follows the July appointment of a four- lawyer team from Simmons & Simmons.
