Scottish firm Biggart Baillie has introduced a new bonus structure for its assistants and associates that will see its non-partner lawyers increase their remuneration by as much as 20 per cent.
The move was made as a result of feedback from fee-earners last year, who responded to a call from Biggarts management board for a review of the bonus system. The result was a new department-related bonus that sits alongside Biggarts’ existing individual performance-related bonus.
Biggarts finance director Alasdair Davidson said the aim of the new bonus was to focus the attention of fee-earners at all levels on the firmwide and departmental performance rather than purely their own.
Last year the 41-partner firm posted a turnover of £17.5m.
