Hammonds has raided DWF for corporate finance partner Ian Gillis to ramp up its Manchester operation.
Gillis joins Hammonds in June after three years as a partner at DFW, where he also trained.
Darren ;Warburton, Hammonds Manchester corporate finance chief, said the appointment of Gillis means the corporate strategy and finance team now numbers four partners and a 13-strong team of lawyers in Manchester.
“The ;announcement comes on the back of a strong year for the firm and is driven by the dynamic expansion of our client base in the North-West market that we have seen in recent months,” said Warburton.
Recent work undertaken by the team includes the Manchester office’s M&A lawyers advising on UK Sports Investments’ takeover of Manchester City Football Club and deals for private equity funds such as Barclays Ventures and Octopus.
Gillis will continue to grow his private and public practice, advising on AIM flotations, company share issues, disposals, M&A and joint ventures.
