Andersen Legal loses out to B&M

The bulk of Andersen Legal's Mexico City practice has opted out of its accountancy parents' Mexican merger with Deloitte & Touche to join Baker & McKenzie

Francisco Javier Ogarrio-Vertiz, a corporate specialist and the office's only partner, has joined Baker & McKenzie with two associates and five paralegals. Only two lawyers and two paralegals have opted for the Deloittes tie-up.
Andersen Legal Mexico also had offices in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Tijuana, most of which have joined Deloittes. But two associates from Monterrey have also joined Baker & McKenzie in Monterrey.
Javier Ogarrio-Vertiz put his decision down to his doubts about the future of accountancy-tied law firms. He also cited Baker & McKenzie's larger global legal network as a reason for choosing the firm.
