The hire brings Clifford Chance’s Moscow energy practice up to eight lawyers and follows the moves of former CMS Moscow head David Griston and banking head Jared Grubb to the magic circle giant. Oleinik has more than 10 years’ experience advising clients in the region on oil, gas and utilities transactions.
Griston said: “There are a lot of projects going on and the number of deals of a big size is considerable at the moment in Moscow. There is more demand for legal services.
“I joined Clifford Chance because it provides a better platform for the clients I work with and the clients I want to work with.”
Griston has been made head of Clifford Chance’s energy practice across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). In total the firm has 36 partners and 300 associates in the CEE region.
