Simmons & Simmons’ head of financial markets Mark Dawkins is to replace David Dickinson as managing partner of the firm.
Dawkins is standing for the role unopposed after stating his intention to run for the position during the recent managing partner nomination process.
Although the firm’s equity partners nominated a number of partners internationally, Dawkins was the only partner to confirm that he would stand for the role.
Senior partner Janet Gaymer said while this enabled the firm to forego the need for an election, Dawkins’ appointment to the role of managing partner would not be made official until endorsed at a partners’ meeting in December.
Dickinson will stand down as managing partner on 30 April 2005 after having served for the last two terms, each lasting three years. Under the firm’s guidelines, an individual may only hold the position of managing partner for two terms.
