CGNU's year long panel audit draws to close

Insurance company CGNU is poised to announce its new panel for disease work following a year-long audit process.

Former Weightmans' chief executive Martin Read is nearing completion of a thorough review of all firms instructed by CGNU subsequent to the merger between Norwich Union and CGU.
A spokesperson for the insurer confirmed that CGNU is finalising a panel of law firms that will deal specifically with disease-related claims. The number of firms on the final panel is unknown.
Firms understood to have handled disease work for the insurer include regional stalwarts Berrymans Lace Mawer, Eversheds, Hugh James Ford Simey, Keoghs and Morgan Cole. It has been predicted by one insurance insider that Halliwell Landau will be joining the panel.
CGNU launched its audit of legal services providers more than 12 months ago. In August, the insurer revealed the results of its fast-track panel review. Decisions about the composition of other CGNU panels are imminent.
