What was your first-ever job? Paralegal at Wright Webb Syrett during the university holidays.
What was your worst experience as a trainee?
Going before the masters at the Royal Courts of Justice was quite tricky sometimes, particularly when you’d just been given the file.
Where’s the best place to go if you want to find out what’s really going on in the office?
The trainees are pretty switched on as to what’s going on.
What time do you usually leave the office?
It depends what I have on and whether we have a court hearing looming. I try to leave by 7pm. I would rather start earlier than leave late as I’m more of a morning person.
What do you do at weekends?
My husband and I have just moved from London to Kent, so exploring our local area, which is all new to us.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Gazette in Battersea, London.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you have been?
What’s your favourite film?
I like the Pirates of the Caribbean films (although this has probably got something to do with Johnny Depp).
What was the first record you ever bought?
Imagination by Shalamar.
Who’s your hero and why?
I have two: personally, my dad, who always encouraged me, and professionally, my old boss Ray Tooth – both legends.
What’s the best thing about your job?
The people I meet, helping them through tough times and showing them that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
What’s the toughest thing about your job?
When the clients are understandably very stressed and emotional.
What’s your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it?
I’ve been pretty lucky actually. Each step has led me to where I am now.
What car do you drive?
A Volvo, although we’re changing this to a Lexus 4×4 because there’s a lot of snow during the winter in Kent.
What book are you currently reading?
The Children’s Book by AS Byatt.
What’s your favourite children’s book?
The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton.
What’s the most exciting deal/case you’ve worked on?
Working on libel cases for newspapers at Wright Webb Syrett.
If you were stranded on a desert island what two luxury items would you take?
Hairdryer and lip gloss.
What’s the worst partner conference location you’ve attended and why?
I’ve always enjoyed them.
What’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?
I need regular sleep to perform well so it wouldn’t be that long.
If a movie was being made about your life, which actor would play you and why?
Renée Zellweger. She seems a nice person.
Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with?
I get claustrophobic so anyone really.
