Willkie Farr hires Clifford Chance aerospace chief for Frankfurt base

Willkie Farr & Gallagher has picked up Clifford Chance’s global aerospace and defence head in a boost for its Frankfurt corporate team.

Georg Linde joins the US firm after six years as a partner at Clifford Chance. He focuses on corporate and private equity deals in sectors including aerospace and renewable energy.

The hire follows the January departure of Willkie Farr capital markets partners Michael Schlitt and Susanne Schäfer to Hogan Lovells (21 January 2011).

Willkie Farr’s Frankfurt head Mario Schmidt said Linde’s arrival would complement the office’s diverse offering.

Meanwhile, DLA Piper has also been on the hunt for new partners in Germany, picking up Osborne Clarke’s Cologne employment head Andreas Imping.

Imping will join DLA Piper in November along with an associate. In addition to practising across the full spectrum of employment law, Imping also brings expertise in contracts and regulatory work for telecommunications clients.

German employment head Volker von Alvensleben said the arrival of Imping significantly strengthened the practice group in Cologne. He added that DLA Piper planned to keep growing its employment team in Germany over the next three years.

DLA Piper lost Hamburg employment partner Frank Weberndörfer in February as part of the seven-strong team quitting the firm for Norton Rose (25 February 2011).
