Virgin has raided fierce rival British Airways for a new group legal director.

Ian Wood, who will be joining Virgin in August, is succeeding Helena Samaha, who left the group earlier this year and subsequently joined DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary as a partner.

Wood will report to Virgin’s group general counsel Josh Bayliss.

As first reported on www.thelawyer.com (21 February) Bayliss who specialises in litigation joined Virgin from Slaughter and May at the end of February to work alongside Virgin’s senior directors.
