Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy’s London corporate team is in tatters as European head of M&A and private equity partner Michael Goroff follows Tim Emmerson out of the exit door this summer.
Goroff’s departure closely follows Emmerson’s decision to leave for Sullivan & Cromwell last month. Emmerson and Goroff had created strong relationships with clients such as Goldman Sachs and Apax Partners.
Goroff is set to leave Milbank to pursue an academic career in public health. He told The Lawyer: “I’ve spent eight years with Milbank in London and have had a wonderful time. For personal reasons it’s now the appropriate time for me to return to the US and to try something else.”
Milbank London managing partner Phill Fletcher told The Lawyer that the firm is looking to grow its corporate department with lateral hires, but he has no plans to promote internally.
