Management reshuffle at Clifford Chance

Matthew Layton, a partner in the private equity group, has been elected Executive Partner and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the London practice.

He takes over from Peter Charlton who was recently elected the firm's London Managing Partner.

Layton joined Clifford Turner in January 1984 as an articled clerk and made partner in the corporate department in May 1991.

He specialises in buy-outs and venture capital markets and has acted for numerous quoted companies including The Roxboro Group and Svenska Cellulosa.

He has been involved in over 50 major private equity transactions, acting for the likes of Shroder Ventures, Prudential Ventures and CVC Capital Partners.
