Key meetings at the conference

Friday 17 October

9.45am:

Law Society president Phillip Sycamore addresses the conference.

10.45am:

Legal Aid Board deputy chairman Henry Hodge will be among those debating the proposal that “This house believes the legal profession has no future in its present form”.

2.15pm:

Session on how to develop a successful practice, chaired by Watson Farley & Williams director of operations Alexandrina le Clezio.

Session on inward investment, chaired by Eversheds' Cardiff partner Eric Evans..

Session on the future direction of legal aid, featuring Sir Tim Chessells, chairman of the Legal Aid Board.

Saturday 18 October

8.30-10.00am:

Miscarriages of Justice. ITN home affairs editor Jennifer Nadel chairs a panel discussion looking at issues such as whether justice has swung too far in favour of the prosecution.

A session entitled: “How to sell property without selling your soul”.

10.30am:

Keynote address from the Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine. Followed by a question and answer session with Law Society president Phillip Sycamore, Bar Council chairman Robert Owen QC.

2.30pm:

Session on client care, including an address by British Airways chief executive Robert Ayling.

8.00pm:

Conference dinner dance.
