US firm Goldberg Segalla is to launch in London next month after hiring reinsurance heavyweight Clive O’Connell.
O’Connell formerly headed Barlow Lyde & Gilbert’s commercial risk and reinsurance practice, but he left the firm in November last year following its merger with Clyde & Co (1 November 2011).
He will lead Goldberg Segalla’s London office, although it is unclear whether there will be further partner hires.
The new office will be based in the hub of London’s insurance district at No 1 Cornhill.
The international expansion follows the firm’s hire of former New York State Superintendent of Insurance James Wrynn, who joined the firm as head of its Manhattan office last month.
