Herbert Smith is in the process of launching a third Middle East outpost with the prospective opening of an office in Qatar.
The firm filed a licence application in July with the anticipation of opening in Doha at the end of the year.
The base will focus on energy and infrastructure, M&A, finance, construction and dispute resolution
Middle East head Neil Brimson will relocate to Doha from Dubai to head the new office along with a small number of associates.
A spokesperson for Herbert Smith commented: “We recently took the decision in principle to open and are now proceeding to make our formal application for a licence.
“If we’re successful we’d aim to open later in the year. Our Doha office would be fully integrated into our Middle East practice and led by Middle East managing partner Neil Brimson”.
The firm already has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as well as having a foothold in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam through an exclusive association with Saudi Arabian firm Al-Ghazzawi Professional Association.
