US firm Reed Smith is to extend its Pittsburgh-based support team to London in a move that could see it rejig some staff working hours in the US.
The move is spearheaded by the firm’s Pittsburgh-based client value chief Vincent Cordo, who joined the firm from Squire Sanders last June.
He is looking for a client service expert to manage the firm’s customer service centre from London, having gained approval from the firm’s partnership earlier this year.
The aim is to further support clients in the EMEA region by having staff available during the same time zones. While the London office will initially house just one project manager, sources say that some staff in the US may have their hours rejigged to better suit clients in the EMEA region.
If the launch is a success Cordo is expected to turn his attentions to Asia, hiring a project manager on the ground to service those in the Asia Pacific region.
The firm’s customer service centre already supports its global network, offering support and administrative services across a number of areas, including legal project management, IT and pricing. It currently houses around 200 staff, all of which are based in Pittsburgh.
A spokesperson for the firm confirmed the London launch, adding that nobody would be made redundant as a result of the move.
