Cleveland firm Jones Day Reavis & Pogue is taking on a finance partner for its London office from Crédit Lyonnais.
Martin Bartlam, who was a partner at Wilde Sapte until becoming a banker in 1998, heads the structured products group in London for Crédit Lyonnais. He has recently been involved in developing high-yield and leveraged financing products from Paris.
Robert Thomson, London partner-in-charge at Jones Day, says: “[Bartlam] comes from a tax and structured finance background, but can help on the corporate finance practice too. He is a double benefit to us.”
The office is also hiring Clifford Chance lawyer Greg Olsen as of counsel to launch a London competition practice. He has just finished a secondment acting as General Electric's European competition counsel.
Thomson says: “We'll add on bits where we come across people who fit. Greg brings competition and antitrust and Martin brings skills that we haven't really got in the office at the moment.”
