Rous, Simon – Hot 100

The managing partner of the lesser-known Exeter, Plymouth and London branch of Bevan Ashford is finally having his day in the sun following the 1 November split with its larger Bristol, Birmingham and London partner.

Simon Rous, Ashfords’ managing partner and a former Clifford Chance lawyer, steered his firm through the demerger and the opening of its own Bristol outpost after signing up John Bosworth, the former head of planning at Bevan Ashford.

While retaining its significant private client offering, the firm, through Rous, continues to advise Schlumberger on all major corporate transactions. The demerger makes Ashfords the South West’s fourth-largest firm.

Under Rous, average profit per equity partner, at an estimated £350,000, is outstripping not only its former partner Bevan Brittan, but also many in the City. Not bad for a firm once dubbed the ‘country cousins’.
