Nabarros scores double City lateral coup for Sheffield

Nabarro Nathanson has added three partners to its Sheffield office, including two rare lateral hires from City firms to its employment and pensions groups.

Ian Flowers joins the Sheffield pensions team from Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw, where he had been a partner for 10 years, while David Fisher joins the employment group from Field Fisher Waterhouse.

Internally, the firm promoted James Hartley to partner in the Sheffield commercial litigation practice, which has doubled in size in the past three years.

Nabarros announced a fourth new partner, Caroline Newsholme, who was promoted into the partnership for the London corporate group.

Senior partner Simon Johnston said: “I’m pleased that three of the four new partners are strengthening the practice in Sheffield, where in each case they will form part of our very effective national teams in pensions, employment and litigation.”

The firm has made up six partners in its Sheffield office since 2003, with litigation a common practice area. The firm promoted litigation partners in 2003 and 2005. The firm had not made a lateral hire into Sheffield since 2003.
