A&O appoints new banking chiefs

Allen & Overy (A&O) has appointed two new joint managing partners of its banking practice, after voting finished yesterday evening (30 April).

Stephen Kensell and Andrew Trahair are taking over the role from Christopher Rushton, who is rejoining the projects department.

Michael Duncan will continue as chairman of the global banking practice, which he has been leading for the past four years.

Kensell said: “We’re very honoured to be appointed and we’re looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of the next four years.”

He added: “Chris Rushton has done a fantastic job in the role and he moves on to new horizons with the department in very good shape.”

Kensell specialises in leveraged finance and has been partner with A&O since 1998. Trahair was made up as partner in A&O’s banking department in 1994.

The terms for the positions are four years and begin today (1 May).
