Freeths hires barrister for medico team

Freeth Cartwright Hunt Dicken has taken on a City barrister as partners try to set up a one-stop-shop for medical negligence clients.

John Gordon left the chambers of Kieran Coonan QC at 6 Pump Court to advise the Midlands firm.

His appointment represents the 45-partner firm's bid to beef-up its medico-legal department. He has 10 years experience in the field and plans to qualify as a solicitor.

He says: “I feel that the skills I have used at the bar are better employed as part of a specialist solicitors' team.”

Freeth Cartwright partner Susan Miles says: “With an in-house counsel we can provide a more efficient and hopefully economical service to clients. Having an in-house counsel is the way forward for medico-legal work, which is becoming an expanding sector.”

6 Pump Court was unavailable for comment.
