Simmons & Simmons’ Italian practice has lost a second partner to Linklaters & Alliance member Gianni Origoni & Partners.
Litigation partner Marta Fuco is the first Rome partner to follow in the footsteps of Eugenio Grippo, who also left Simmons for Gianni Origoni. He took a team of 10 lawyers with him, including corporate partner Stefano Speroni (The Lawyer, 2 April 2001).
Fuco was previously a member of Grippo e Associati, which merged with Simmons to form Simmons & Simmons Grippo in 1997. A source at the firm’s Rome office says that Fuco’s departure is not unexpected due to her long association with Grippo.
Fuco was Simmons’ sole litigation partner, but the firm is now expanding the department with the hire of three senior associates.
Linklaters confirmed that Fuco is about to join Gianni Origoni, although she has not been offered partnership.
