Simpson Thacher launches EC practice

The practice will be headed by David Vann, a partner in Simpson Thacher’s New York antitrust practice. Vann and the firm’s most senior Europe-facing antitrust practitioner Kenneth Logan have been handling EU regulatory work for US clients for some time. Vann said the rationale behind the relocation is that US clients “have been asking us to come over here and give a real-time service”.
Vann will operate from the existing London office. He will be joined by two associates in the next few months, with Logan remaining in New York.
The firm has no immediate plans to take on any European lawyers, so its operations will be limited to proceedings before the EC, which require no particular legal qualification.
