Fulbright & Jaworski’s London office has promoted its first associate to the partnership after 30 years in the capital.
London international arbitration and dispute resolution lawyer Jonathan Sutcliffe was promoted to the partnership from senior associate.
London office managing partner Stephen Vogel said: “We’ve been in London for 30 years, only practising English law for three. This is our first partner to come up through the ranks.”
Sutcliffe worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer prior to joining Fulbright. He works alongside rated litigation partner Lista Cannon.
Sutcliffe acts for clients in the energy, construction, defence, insurance, international joint venture and film sectors, and on investor-state disputes.
The energy-focussed US firm promoted 13 worldwide, focusing heavily on its litigation practice.
Fulbright’s Texas offices received the bulk of the promotions, with the Houston headquarters receiving five new partners. Dallas had three promotions, Austin two, and San Antonio and New York one each.
The firm promoted litigation, arbitration and patent prosecution partners, while also adding a New York-based corporate and securities partner and a tax partner.
