Grimaldi hits the rocks, lawyers’ fates unknown

Italian independent Grimaldi e Associati dissolved at the end of 2011, with the fate of its 60 lawyers and 40 staff unknown at the time of going to press.

The dissolution, which according to Italian media reports was voted for by partners in mid-December, follows the November departure of partner Roberto Cappelli and a team of 10 associates to Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners.

A spokesperson for Grimaldi confirmed the dissolution. Managing partner Vittorio Grimaldi did not return calls for comment.

The firm was set up in 2002 following an acrimonious split from association partner firm Clifford Chance, with Vittorio Grimaldi, four partners and 26 lawyers leaving the magic circle firm.
