Andersen Luther loses four partners

Andersen Legal’s German arm Andersen Luther is losing four partners from its Hamburg office as a team of lawyers split from the firm to set up on their own.

Among those leaving is one of Germany’s leading corporate partners Wilhem Happ. He will be joined by fellow corporate partner Hubertus Freiherr von der Recke, intellectual property (IP) and trademark partner Martin Luther and commercial partner Rudiger Ludwig.

The new firm will focus on corporate law, competition, IP and IT, private equity and tax.

Partners expect to take clients with them and it is understood that the firm will service the Mittelstand, a number of well-known north German companies and some Scandinavian corporates.

Happ declined to give a reason for the split, but he did say that the reality of global law firms differed from partners’ expectations.
