Hogan Lovells to replace senior partner

Hogan Lovells is gearing up to find a successor to co-chair and senior partner John Young, who is due to end his current term and retire from the firm in April.

Young will leave the firm on 30 April after a 33-year stint, finishing his second four-year term as co-chair and stepping down as head of the firm’s corporate insurance practice.

“When I was elected as senior partner (of legacy firm Lovells) in 2004 I always said that if I did one four-year term I’d go back into my practice, but if I did two terms I’d regard that as sufficient and step down and leave the firm,” he said.

On the subject of his succession, Young said there were “no fixed plans”, adding: “That will have to be dealt with between now and April.”
