The Indian rupee trick

The Indian rupee trick
In the UK associates are really going through tough times this year, with most getting ‘only’ single-digit percentage salary increases.

But in India things are different and there’s a salary war raging.

While the jurisdiction is not at allwelcoming to foreign firms, it has instead been under attack from international firms that poach and export the best young legal minds and graduates, enticing them with London and US salaries.

Indian firm FoxMandal Little is the latest to respond by piling on the pounds, er rupees. In line with other firms, international practice head Som Mandal has hiked its newly qualified lawyers’ wages by up to 50 per cent; associate and senior associate pay was boosted by 50-100 per cent; and partner wages have been upped by a further 30-60 per cent.
