Pinsent Masons‘ ally Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner is aiming to increase its presence in the investment banking market by opening a new office in London.
The move to open its first European office follows the 1 December merger of Thelen Raid & Priest and Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner.
The firm said that the office would not affect its relationship with Pinsent Masons, which is solely focussed on construction and projects.
The office will be initially staffed through the relocation of two partners and two mid-level associates from the US.
Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner co-chairman Stephen O’Neal said: “The decision to open in London was driven by a need to provide services to some of our most important clients.”
The move will bring Thelen’s international presence to two offices, with the firm receiving its license for a Shanghai office in August.
Thelen’s has been expanding aggressively in recent years off the back of strong financial performance, which includes closing in excess of $25 billion of loans for financial institutions.
